The government plans to present proposals on September 30 to help Alstom maintain production at Belfort. As a result, Alstom’s chairman and CEO Mr Henri Poupart-Lafarge informed workers that the closure has been put on hold until it is clear what the government intends.

Alstom confirmed on September 7 that production would cease at the plant in 2018 with production transferred to its Reichsfoffen plant, although part of the plant would remain operational to provide maintenance and overhaul services. Alstom planned to give the 400 staff at Belfort the option to transfer to other plants.
