HVLE is the launch customer for the locomotives, which will be equipped for using 15kV and 25kV electric operation as well as with a diesel engine. These units will be deployed on freight services in Germany, operating at speeds of up to 160km/h.

The Eurodual modular locomotives are available in different configurations, gauges and overhead voltages, and are currently undergoing first tests at Stadler’s plant in Valencia, Spain.

"The demand for six-axle locomotives will grow because of the increasing length and weight of trains," says Mr Ludolf Kerkeling, HVLE.

Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing will finance the locomotives which will be leased to HVLE for operations.
