The 6.4MW multi-system (1.5kV/3kV dc and 15kV 16.7Hz/25kV 50Hz ac) locomotives will be equipped with ETCS Level 2 and certified for operation in Germany, Austria, and Italy.
Assembly will be carried out at Siemens' plant in Allach, Munich.
MUNICH-based leasing company Mitsui Rail Capital Europe (MRCE) has awarded Siemens a contract to supply 10 additional Vectron MS electric locomotives, taking its Vectron fleet to 66 units.
