According to a post on the embassy’s Facebook page, the ambassador stressed the importance of concluding an agreement between GE and UZ to localise the assembly of Evolution Series locomotives in Ukraine and support the modernisation of existing motive power.
The embassy said the “delivery of 30 new GE locomotives will be the first step for a further partnership between Ukraine and General Electric, including cooperation in the energy sphere, infrastructure and healthcare.”
In September 2016 a GE T33A locomotive underwent trials on UZ’s Odessa division.
