The G6 can be configured as a 350kW or 700kW single-engined or multi-engined unit. Vossloh also offers a hybrid version, which is equipped with a rechargeable battery and two energy storage modules for traction. All three designs have a starting tractive effort of up to 220kN and a maximum speed of 80km/h, and the diesel-powered versions are compliant with EU Stage IIIB emissions regulations.

Vossloh says the first G6 will enter service in France in July. The company says it now intends to certify its DE 18 four-axle diesel locomotive for operation on the French network.
