Eight of the locomotives will be delivered to VFLI, a subsidiary of French National Railways which is France's third-largest railfreight operator after Fret SNCF and DB Schenker-owned Euro Cargo Rail. Six of these units will be leased from Beacon Rail Leasing and the other two will be ordered directly from Vossloh Spain.

The remaining four units are destined for Eurotunnel railfreight subsidiary Europorte. Both Europorte and VFLI already operate Euro 4000 fleets and the delivery of the latest order will take the total number of Euro 4000s in operation in France to 40 units.

All 12 locomotives will be assembled at the Vossloh Rail Vehicles plant in Albuixech near Valencia.

The Euro 4000 is equipped with EMD's 3.17MW output turbocharged V-16 two-stroke 16-710 power unit with electronic fuel injection.

So far Vossloh has received orders for around 130 Euro 4000s from customers in Europe, Israel and South Africa.
