The contract includes planning and design of the additional tracks, a new commuter rail station, improved track geometry for greater line speeds, and the construction of new overpasses.
Atkins says design work will start immediately and is due to be completed by the second quarter of 2014. Trafikverket expects to complete the upgrade in 2016.
