Ontario has invested $C 17m ($US 13.2m) in the Polar Bear Express upgrade to modernise a rail service that provides an essential link in the north. It is the only year-round ground transport link connecting Cochrane with Moosonee and the James Bay Coast.
The refurbished coaches will provide new seats with electrical and USB charging, accessible washrooms, modern flooring, enhanced luggage space, comfortable restaurant cars, and a family coach.
