In a four-year programme costing around €30m, Prorail has installed 90km of ribbed paving tiles on platform surfaces, 250km of high-contrast platform edging, and over 800 braile signs on stairways, escalators and elevators. Tactile maps have been installed at large stations and obstacles such as waste bins have been removed from designated walking routes.

The programme covering 410 stations has been implemented with the support of the Eye Association, a Dutch charity for the blind and visually-impared.

The work has been implemented as part of a broader initiative to improve station accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility, which will make all Dutch stations fully accessible for wheelchairs by 2030.
