The contract was awarded by the public transport authority of the German state of Rhineland Palatinate following a European direct award tender procedure.
Rhenus Veniro will take over operations on the 13km long line from German Rail (DB) on December 13, using a pair of Stadler RS1 diesel railcars from its existing fleet. These vehicles will be refurbished before entering service on the line.
