THE first of 24 diesel-electric articulated dmus has been rolled out by Stadler Rail for operation by Arriva on its Rivierenland Achterhoek passenger rail concession in

the Netherlands. The trains are part of a larger order for 38 dmus, with the other 14 destined for service in the Dutch provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe.

The GTW trains are an enhanced version of dmus previously supplied by Stadler to Arriva and feature an environmentally-friendly drive unit. This includes a 16.0 V8 TCD Deutz engine which is designed to meet the European Stage IIIB emissions standard.
