The prohibition - by withdrawal of both part A and part B safety certificates - will come into effect on July 5 because the company has failed to rectify multiple deficiencies previously identified by Transportstyrelsen, particularly concerning employee training and the company's safety management system.

Skandinaviska Jernbanor plans to appeal the decision and has stated it wishes to continue operating on the Swedish mainline network.

Skandinaviska Jernbanor began operating the Gothenburg - Stockholm - Uppsala service in December 2011 and currently operates up to five train pairs a week using second-hand long-distance coaches bought from Germany and Scandinavia and leased electric locomotives.
