The tender is being managed by North Hessen Transport authority (NVV) on behalf of its partners Rhine-Main Transport Authority (RMV) and Westphalia-Lippe Transport Authority (NWL) and the contract covers the operation of around 2.01 million train-km per year on three regional routes:

R4: Kassel – Wolfhagen – Korbach

R42/55: Brilon Stadt – Korbach – Marburg, and

R43/R94: Erndtebrücke – Bad Laasphe – Marburg.

The contract also includes an option for around 125,000 train-km per year on the Bad Wildungen – Wabern – Kassel line (R39).

Bids will be accepted with new or existing rolling stock, although offers including new trains will receive a higher rating in this part of the selection process.
