Under a memorandum of understanding signed by CRRC and Maharashtra’s state Industry Department on October 15, CRRC will invest Rs 15bn in the construction of an assembly plant at the Multimodal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (Mihan). Nagpur Metro Rail also handed over a letter of intent for the supply of rolling stock during the signing ceremony.
The 38.2km first phase of the Nagpur metro network comprises the 19.7km north-south Line 1 from Automotive Square to Khapri and the 18.6km east-west Line 2 from Lokmanya Nagar to Prajapati Nagar. Construction is underway and the first section of Line 1 is expected to open in 2018, with the remainder of phase 1 scheduled for completion by 2020.
