The extension includes new stations at Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid Lal Quila. The new northern terminus at Kashmere Gate is the first three-line interchange on the Delhi metro network, connecting the Violet Line with the Red and Yellow lines.

This will enable passengers travelling from stations on the Red Line in the north of the city to reach southern Delhi and Faridabad with a single change at Kashmere Gate.

The opening of the extension takes the total length of the Violet Line to 43km and extends the Delhi metro network to 218km with 164 stations. Dubbed the ‘Heritage Corridor,’ the Violet Line serves a number of sites of historical significance, including the Red Fort and Jama Masjid.
