The loan will support the rollout of CBTC, which is due to be completed by 2014 under a €80m contract signed with Ansaldo STS in 2010. The loan will also help to fund the acquisition of the fleet of C30 articulated trains, due to be delivered from 2016 onwards, together with the construction of a new depot at Norsborg, and the modernisation of existing train maintenance facilities at Nyboda.
The 41km, 36-station north-south line is operated as two routes - T13 from Norsborg to Ropsten, and T14 from Fruängen to Mörby Centrum.
