The four-car trains were ordered at the end of 2014 to supplement the existing fleet of 23 trains on the 19.5km line from Yenikapi and Haciosman, which has seen a surge in ridership in recent years.
Hyundai Rotem says the trains are the first in Tukey to feature a 100% locally manufactured aluminium bodyshell.
Assembly of the vehicles is taking place at Eurotem’s Adapazarı plant.
