Hyderabad metro for eight years, with an option to extend the contract for another three years. There were four other competitors for the contract: Paris Transport Authority (RATP) and Veolia, Serco, Britain, MTR, Hong Kong, and SMRT, Singapore.
The Hyderabad metro is being constructed as a public-private partnership. The first section of the network of three elevated lines totalling 71km with 66 stations are due to open between late-2014 and early-2015 and is expected to carry 1.5 million passengers a day. The metro will be fully automatic as it is being equipped with communications-based train control and will be served by a fleet of 57 trains.
