The civil works contract, which was awarded to Turkish construction companies Doğuş, Özaltın, and Yapi Merkezi, encompasses the 10.9km eastern section of Line M5 from Çekmeköy to Sancaktepe and Sultanbeyli (nine stations) and the 7km Sarıgazi - Taşdelen - Yenidoğan line (six stations).
The total cost of the two sections is Lira 2.34bn ($US 650m) and both are due to open in 2020.
