In its first Malaysian rail project, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has secured a Ringgits 855m contract to design, procure, construct, test, and commission trackwork on the 51km line, which is due to open in July 2017. MRTC has also selected a consortium of Apex Communication, Malaysia, and LG CNS for a Ringgits 319.9m contract to engineer, procure, construct, test, and commission the line's telecommunications systems.
The 31-station line will link the KTM commuter station at Sungai Buloh with KL Sentral station, Maluri, and Kajang. Services will operate at 3.5-minute intervals during peak periods and the line is expected to carry around 445,000 passengers per day.
