The black and green trains dubbed Leonardo are part of a €220m order for 30 vehicles, with 20 red and black sets already in service on Line 1.

AnsaldoBreda manufactured the 90km/h trains at its Pistoia plant. The vehicles are 107m long and have capacity for 1232 passengers. The air-conditioned trains have a special converter which reduces energy consumption by up to 25%, and a new bogie design which is designed to reduce noise.

The trains were designed by Italian companies A+B, Dominoni and Quaquaro.
