Graña y Montero awarded the €25m contract in December 2016 and design works began immediately.
Provisional acceptance for all of the contracted works will be in December 2018.
Siemens is upgrading the existing overhead contact line system and modifying electrification in the depots to increase both the availability and the cost-effectiveness of the line. The upgrades will be carried out without disrupting train operations.
