Under a ministerial decree dated March 4, €10m has been assigned to the Mobility councillor's office as part of the Italian government's "Unlock Italy" programme for planning work on the north-south line from Rebaudengo to Bengasi.

According to the latest feasibility study, which was completed in 2008, the total cost of the project is forecast to be €1.2bn.

Construction will be divided into four phases: Rebaudengo – Scalo Vanchiglia; Cimitero Parco - Zappata; Zappata – Porta Nuova; and Porta Nuova - Scalo Vanchiglia.

The first phase of the line will be 4km long with seven stations and a journey time of around eight minutes.
