The 44m-long vehicles have been designed for operation in extreme climatic conditions and accommodate up to 408 passengers.

The initial 10km phase of the Al Sufouh Tramway is due to open by the end of next year, and the line will be the first to be electrified entirely with Alstom's APS ground-level power supply system, which was pioneered in Bordeaux.
Alstom will deliver a further 14 LRVs for the second 4km phase.

Rolling stock and fixed installations will be maintained by a consortium of Alstom and Cofely Besix FM under a 13-year €120m contract signed in February 2012.
