ABB to supply traction equipment to Stadler

STADLER, Switzerland has awarded ABB a contract worth around $US 55 million to supply traction equipment for two domestic rolling stock orders.

ABB will deliver specially-designed traction converters with integrated onboard power supplies together with traction transformers and battery charges for the fleet of 28 Dosto double-deck emus ordered by BLS for the Bern S-Bahn. These trains will be delivered from next autumn, entering services on Line S1 from Fribourg to Bern and Thun in 2013, followed by Lines S3 (Biel - Bern - Belp) and S6 (Schwarzenburg - Bern) in 2014.

ABB will also supply traction converters and transformers for 30 Ee 3/3 electro-diesel shunting locomotives being built by Stadler for SBB Cargo, the railfreight subsidiary of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
