The next lowest bid was from Siemens and Newag, Poland, at Zlotys 1.3 billion followed by a bid of Zlotys 1.34 billion from Skoda, Czech Republic, and Vagonmash, Russia. Alstom's bid was reported as being rejected because it did not comply with the bid specifications.
Bids in for Warsaw metro train contract
CAF, Spain, is reported to be the lowest bidder for a contract to supply the Warsaw metro with 35 six-car trains for delivery in 2012. CAF bid Zlotys 1.19 billion ($US 379.6 million) against an estimated price of Zlotys 1.2 billion.
