The overall growth in freight traffic is attributed largely to a 16.9%
increase in coal and coke volumes, which reached 10.3 million tonnes,
and an 11.5% rise in oil volumes to 11.5 million tonnes.
"We are delighted that despite the difficult economic circumstances and
the decline in railfreight elsewhere in Europe, LDz Cargo has managed
not only to maintain volumes but increase them," says LDz
chairman Mr Ugis Magonis.
Last month LDz Cargo carried 4.8 million tonnes of freight, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%.
