The study will consider route selection, stopping intervals and station locations as well as the costs of establishing and operating high-speed trains along the line. The report will be submitted on February 1 2012 and will be compiled by Ramboll staff in Norway and Sweden, as well as high-speed experts from ILG Consulting and IGV.
"This is one of the most exciting engineering projects in Norway and we are looking forward to working for the JBV in assessing the possibility of a high-speed railway between these two major cities," says Mr Frode Mo, CEO of Rail-X and the report's project manager. "Ramboll's task is to create a basis for the decision regarding the realisation of such a railway."
The existing line from Trondheim to Oslo is 553km long and it takes about 6h 40min to complete the trip.
