The pink tram is one of 18 32m-long LRVs that will be delivered to the city in eight similarly bright colours. Assembled in La Rochelle, each of the yellow, orange, red, purple, pink, blue, turquoise and green LRVs will include a distinctive front-end design which evokes the shape of a champagne flute, while the interiors will match the respective vehicle's exterior colour scheme. Artist Mr Rudy Bauer designed the colours as part of the city's visual identity project. Teams from Alstom Transport's design and styling department and the design agency MBD, France, collaborated to adapt the colours to the LRVs.

In addition to the LRVs, Alstom is designing and producing all of the electromechanical systems for the 23-station, 11.2km network including track, signalling, electrical supply, catenary and the ticketing system. Alstom's APS system ground-level supply system will also be installed on 2km of the network in order to preserve the city's traditional appearanreims-tram-pink.jpgce. Alstom will handle equipment maintenance on the system for the next 30 years in accordance with operator Transdev.

The network is scheduled to open in April 2011.
