Designed for operation at 320km/h, the new line has been tested at speeds exceeding 352km/h with a test train clocking up over 60,000km during the past three months. Commercial services will begin in December 11 on the route which is France's seventh high-speed line.
 
A 35km extension from Villiers-les-Pots to Lutterbach, and 35km link from Petit Croix to Lutterbach are required to complete the 190km eastern branch of Rhine - Rhone from Dijon to Mulhouse. Funding for these sections of the project has yet to be secured.
