Siemens will be responsible for the entire project, from initial planning to installation of communications systems, control and safety systems, and the supply 19 two-car Cityval trains (pictured), each of which accommodate up to 100 passengers. The number of trains can be adjusted according to levels of ridership, allowing a peak service interval of 2.5 minutes.
Siemens to build Rennes B Line
SIEMENS has secured a turnkey contract worth more than Euros 200 million to build the second VAL automated metro line in the French city of Rennes. B Line will run for 12.6km on a northeast-southwest alignment, intersecting with the existing A Line at Gares and St Annes in the city centre. The line will have 15 stations and will be underground for most of its length.
