The train refurbishment is part of the £400 million All Change
programme, which will see modernisation of half the network's 90
stations together with the renewal of track, electrification and
communications systems.
The 79km network has been operated since April 1 by DB Regio, which has
been granted a seven year concession with an option for a two-year
extension by regional transport authority Nexus.
