Bids invited for second section of California HSR CHSRA

AFTER signing the construction contract for the initial 47km Fresno – Madera section of the state's first high-speed line, California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has invited contractors to qualify to bid for the second construction phase of the Initial Operating Section (IOS) Stage 1.

Construction package 2-3 is a design-build contract covering civil works on the 97km stretch from Fresno south to the border between Tulare and Kern counties near Bakersfield, and is expected to be worth between $US 1.5bn and $US 2bn. CHSRA expects environmental approval for this section to be granted by next summer.

The deadline for submitting statements of qualification is December 6.
