The nine-year contract, which has been awarded to FirstGroup’s US subsidiary First Transit, begins on October 1 and is expected to generate annual revenues of around $US 9m.
First Transit already has a presence in the area, with its First Student division operating buses in Lewisville and the Greyhound bus division headquartered in Dallas.
FirstGroup says the US rail sector offers a number of potential opportunities as the market moves increasingly towards outsourcing of operations.
