Metrolinx appoints Toronto RER rolling stock consultant Stephen C. Host

TORONTO and Hamilton transit authority Metrolinx has appointed CH2M as vehicle technology consultant for the Toronto Regional Express Rail (RER) project.

CH2M will provide programme management and engineering services for the procurement of electric locomotives, dual-mode locomotives and EMUs.

The RER project involves the introduction of 15-minute interval bi-directional services throughout the day on five of the seven Go Transit commuter rail corridors, with 150km of new dedicated track, electrification, new trains, elimination of level crossings, and new and upgraded stations.

Earlier this year Metrolinx awarded CH2M a contract to provide consultant and programme management services for its Next Wave Rapid Transit programme, which includes the Hurontario and Hamilton LRT projects.
