The 8.5km line from University of Houston-Downtown to Northline Transit Center has eight stations and roughly parallels Interstate 45.
Two more light rail lines, the East End Line and the Southeast Line, are also due to open in 2014. Houston's initial 12km starter LRT line began operations in January 2004.
