IRJ promotes Barrow and Smith

IRJ is pleased to announce the promotion of Keith Barrow from associate editor to senior editor and Kevin Smith from features editor to managing editor with effect from August 1.

In addition to their journalistic roles on IRJ, Barrow will oversee the development of IRJ’s industry-leading news website,, and the IRJ Pro suite of market data products, while Smith will be responsible for the planning, design and production of the magazine, working with IRJ’s recently-promoted production manager Sue Morant.

“These promotions not only recognise the vital contribution which Keith Barrow and Kevin Smith have made to the development and success of IRJ as one of the leading publications serving the global railway industry, but they are also an important milestone in the career development of these two highly-talented journalists,” says David Briginshaw, IRJ’s editor-in-chief and associate publisher.

At the same time, we are sorry to announce the departure from August 11 of IRJ’s features and news reporter, Dan Templeton, who has decided to follow a new career path in teaching.
