CSR Nanjing Puzhen and Rites, India, also submitted bids for the contract, which is being financed by the Asian Development Bank.

The broad-gauge batch includes four sleeping cars, four first-class coaches, 25 non-air-conditioned saloons, eight dining cars, and five generator cars. The metre-gauge batch comprises 13 air-conditioned standard-class sleeping cars, six first-class sleepers, 24 executive cars, 36 non-air conditioned economy coaches, 13 dining cars, and eight generator cars.

The first of the metre-gauge vehicles is due to be handed over to BR later this month and deliveries will be completed by February 2017.
