The 140km/h trains will be used on the Frankfurt – Dreieich – Dieburg line in Hessen, and are being ordered by DB under its contract with Rhine-Main Transport Association to operate the route for 11.5 years from June 2016.

The order comprises two two-car and seven three-car trains. The two-car sets will seat 110 passengers, while the three-car units will seat 160.

DB Regio placed its first firm order for Link dmus last September when it ordered 36 sets for the Sauerland regional network around Dortmund.
