The eight-car trains, which will operate on Line R of the Paris suburban network, form part of a framework contract awarded in 2010.

The trains have five-abreast seats to maximise seating capacity. Doors are 1.6m wide and gangways 2.3m wide, and level access is provided from stations with 55cm-high platforms. There is an automatic door shutting management system to aid punctuality and the trains have what Bombardier describes as an intelligent air-conditioning system which adjusts itself according to the number of passengers of board.

The EMUs are fitted with Mitrac permanent magnet motors and regenerative braking and are fabricated from a light steel structure, which Bombardier says will contribute to an energy saving of 20% per passenger compared with conventional rolling stock.
