Both projects will be completed in 2015, and the two sets of trains will operate on the Eifel – Westerwald - Sieg network. The new trains will have a maximum speed of 120km/h and will be able to accommodate around 240 passengers. The existing trains will modified to make them compatible with the new trains and will be fitted with new seats, lighting and modified door operating mechanisms.
German operator awards train contracts to Alstom
HESSEN State Rail (HLB) has awarded two contracts worth about €40m to Alstom. One contract is for the supply of seven Coradia Lint dmus and the other is to modernise 25 existing Coradia Lint trains.
