HITACHI Rail Italy (HRI) announced on November 30 that it has been awarded three contracts with a total value of around €108m to provide rolling stock maintenance services for Trenitalia and Trenord.

Under the largest contract, which is worth up to €79m, HRI will manage component supply and repairs for Trenitalia’s fleet of Frecciarossa 1000 high-speed trains, in addition to activities already covered by the warranty. The contract includes preventative maintenance, repairs to damage caused by vandalism, and regular inspections.

The second contract is worth €7.9m and covers corrective maintenance on the fleet of TSR regional EMUs used by Trenord in Lombardy. HRI will work in partnership with Sitav, Italy, on the two-year contract.

Under the third contract, HRI and Sitav will provide preventative and corrective maintenance services for Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa 500 fleet. The €21.9m contract is valid for a year.
