MÁV-Start's urgent need to use available funds meant that the first six EMUs need to be handed over before the end of this year and only Stadler has a design – its Flirt train - which is already approved for Hungary. The contract is expected to be signed in early July.
The order will increase the number of Stadler Flirt EMUs operated by MÁV-Start from 102 to 123. Stadler has also supplied 10 Flirt EMUs to another Hungarian railway, GySEV.
