Each three-car articulated train seats 150 passengers including 16 in first-class. LG says the low-floor trains offer improved accessibility for passengers with disabilities and enhancements including Wi-Fi, LCD passenger information screens, drinks machines, and leather seats in first class.
The remaining six trains are due to enter service by the autumn and LG estimates the switch from locomotive haulage to DMU operation on the Vilnius - Klaipeda route will reduce fuel consumption by around 900,000 litres per year.
The 140km/h trains are a variant of the DP3 (Pesa 730m) DMU already in service with Belarus Railways (BC).
