The 60 coaches will be upgraded for 160 or 200km/h operation and equipped with air conditioning, at-seat power sockets, and modern passenger information systems. The seven EU/EP 07 electric locomotives will be refurbished with new driver's seats, cab air-conditioning, and electrically-heated windows.
The coach modernisation contracts are divided into four lots with closing dates for submission of bids between February 10 and February 15. The submission date for the electric locomotive contract is February 16. The work is due to be completed by 2018.
In addition, PKP Intercity will award a contract with a net value of around Zlotys 76m to its Remtrak subsidiary for the overhaul of 410 coaches.
