The air-conditioned vehicles will allow RegioJet to offer more seats on its services between Prague, Ostrava and Harivov, as well as trains to Žilina in Slovakia.

RegioJet began operating services between Prague and eastern Czech Republic in September 2011 and now operates 10 return trains per day. With ridership increasing, RegioJet is expanding its fleet to meet demand, and the delivery of the ÖBB coaches will allow the operation of 10-coach trains from March onwards.

Last November RegioJet's competitor Czech Railways (CD) announced that it would acquire 80 long-distance coaches from ÖBB for use on international services.
