RZD orders new EMUs for Rostov and Volgograd DMZ

RUSSIAN Railways (RZD) has awarded Transmashholding subsidiary Demikhovsky Machinery Plant (DMZ) a contract to supply 22 EP3D EMUs.

The 120km/h, 25kV ac 50Hz trains will be used on suburban services around Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd.

Deliveries are due to begin next month.

The order is RZD’s first for the EP3D, although DMZ has already supplied four four-car trains to Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ).
