The 160km/h six-car articulated sets will be assembled at Alstom's Salzgitter plant in Germany, and deliveries will commence in 2016. Each 107m-long train will accommodate up to 374 passengers, and will be equipped with ERTMS.

SL ordered the initial batch of 71 X60s in 2002, and the first trains entered service in August 2005. It later exercised for an additional 12 sets.

The latest order takes the total number of Coradia Nordic regional and suburban emus sold in Sweden to 239, with other operators including Skånetrafiken, Västtrafik, and Östergötatrafiken.
