Stadler orders ABB traction equipment

ABB announced on February 16 that it has received orders with a total value of $US 70m to supply traction and onboard power equipment to Stadler Rail for use on new trains for customers in Switzerland, Sweden, and Hungary.

ABB will deliver traction converters and traction transformers for the fleet of 11 Flirt EMUs ordered last year by Switzerland’s Southeastern Railway (SOB) for St Gallen - Lucerne Voralpen Express services. It will also supply traction converters for metre-gauge trains ordered by Bern-Solothurn Regional Transport (RBS) and Appenzell Railway (AB).

The fleet of 33 Kiss double-deck EMUs ordered by Swedish leasing company Transitio in 2015 for regional services in the Stockholm area will be fitted with ABB traction equipment.

ABB will also supply traction converters with integrated auxiliary converters, transformers and battery chargers for the batch of 10 Flirt 3 EMUs ordered last year Györ-Sopron-Ebenfurth Railway.
