The order is the first option from a €470m contract for 70 trains which was placed in 2012, 45 of which have been delivered so far. These trains are destined for the regions of Marche, Umbria, Piedmont, Abruzzi, Tuscany, and Lombardy.

All 25 of the additional trains will be delivered next year and as with the initial batch production will take place at Alstom plants in Savigliano, Bologna and Sesto San Giovanni.

Each 82.2m-long five-car train is equipped with four 512kW asynchronous traction motors and seats 292 passengers.
